Summit Microelectronics Appoints Director of Applications Engineering

CAMPBELL, CA -- February 22, 2001 -- Citing systems support as a key competitive factor for its customers, Summit Microelectronics, Inc. has named Thomas J. DeLurio to the new position of director of applications engineering. Mr. DeLurio reports to Rick Orlando, founder and chief technology officer of Summit.

"Understanding the technical challenges of managing power in communications equipment increases the value we can offer customers," stated Chuck Berghoff, president and CEO of Summit. "By understanding our customers' systems and the applications those systems must support, we can ensure that our products perform or out-perform to their expectations. Tom's broad experience in analog technologies, applications and customer support make him a valuable addition to our engineering teams."

Before joining Summit, Mr. DeLurio held applications engineering management positions at Impala Linear Corporation and Micro Linear Corporation. At both companies he was responsible for the design and production of evaluation kits and product line support. Dedicated to applications engineering during the course of his career, Mr. DeLurio has also held positions at Aspen/Cypress Semiconductor, NCR Corporation's ASIC division, Honeywell, and Signetics Corporation.

Mr. DeLurio has authored numerous articles for industry publications, including Electronic Design Magazine, RF Design Magazine, and Electronic Products Magazine. He holds a BA from University of South Florida and a BSEE degree from Pennsylvania State University.
