San
Jose, CA -- July 12 2004 --
Summit Microelectronics has
announced availability of the
SMR100
long duration reset controller
for cost-effective use in
high-volume consumer
applications.
The SMR100 has a user reset that
is controlled by long hold-down
of a push button as typically
specified for satellite TV
set-top box applications. The
hold-down time is user
programmable from 0.3 to 40
seconds. Long hold-down time is
used to avoid inadvertent user
resetting. Other features include
a bad-power warning signal that
trips when Vcc drops to 3.1
volts, and a reset that trips if
Vcc drops to 3.0 volts
The SMR100 is well-suited to a
variety of applications in
consumer and customer-premises
equipment. These include TV
set-top boxes, home DSL routers,
cable modems, video equipment,
digital cameras, and handheld
computing devices.
DESIGN SOFTWARE AND PROGRAMMER
FOR PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT
To speed OEM design, Summit
offers graphical user interface
(GUI) software to very rapidly
tailor the SMR100 to their
individual needs. Summit GUIs are
currently is use by hundreds of
designers worldwide to program
virtually all of Summit's
products.
Once a user completes design and
prototyping, summit's GUI
automatically generates a HEX
data file to be transmitted to
Summit for review and approval.
Summit then assigns a unique
customer identification code to
the HEX file and programs the
customer's production devices
prior to final electrical test
operations. This ensures that the
device will operate properly in
the end application
DESIGN KIT FOR AUTOMATED
PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT
An evaluation card containing the
SMR100 reset controller, all
required associated circuitry,
and a PC connector for "plug and
play" programming are
available.
PRICING AND
AVAILABILITY
Available in volume quantities
today, the SMR100 comes in a
highly compact 6-bump 1x1.5mm
Ultra CSP package priced at $0.40
in 25,000 quantity. It is also
available in 8-lead SOIC for
$0.50 in the same quantity.
