San Jose, Calif. - April 12, 2005 - Summit Microelectronics has announced the appointment of Patrick Brockett to the position of president and chief executive officer. Mr. Brockett replaces William Thomas who has served as interim CEO since November 2004. Mr. Thomas resumes his role as Summit's vice-president of worldwide sales.

Pat Brockett has served as president and CEO of Zarlink Semiconductor since 2001, but he is most known for his 20-year career at National Semiconductor Corporation. While at National, Pat Brockett held various management roles including senior vice-president and general manager of the analog division from 1997 to 2000, and senior vice-president of worldwide sales from 1990 to1997. From 1967 to1979 he worked at Texas Instruments in sales and sales-management roles.
